I think Carrie and Steve should hook up. Not be in a relationship but just a little *fling*. Miranda is on the west coast and Brady is out of town so they have the time and space to do it with no witnesses. Except Charlotte, but Carrie clearly hates Charlotte so Carrie can easily start a fight with her to get her off her back. When Steve said it doesn’t matter what Miranda does he’s still wearing his ring I felt pity for him but I feel like a hook up with Carrie will put some pep in his step and show him that he may be losing his hearing and only has one testicle but he’s still hot. Not only will this make for a great storyline but it’ll definitely get the fan base talking again — good or bad.

And Just Like That... I have very strong feelings about fictional children. When I heard we would be getting the original kids back in the revival, I was excited, until we got them. Brady Hobbes... needs to be stopped! The constant (loud) sex in his parent's home, rolling his eyes at his mom, and just being the all-around worst is just not what I wanted for Miranda or Steve. I was hoping we would get a smart, thoughtful kid, who, I don't know didn't say things like "ride me, cowboy".
Miranda had enough going on and to add this to her already full, complicated, overwhelming plate was just too much for me.
Let me begin by saying that I personally LOVE the Sam and Chris host chat at the beginning of the pod. Never change. Shoo the haterz.
Secondly, I have to come on to say justice for Kristen Davis. She is truly the glue that holds the ship together and I think that was clear in AJLT. She is a comedy QUEEN and Charlotte is truly one of the funniest characters on the show. I couldn't believe that she didn't get any accolades until the final season. I literally love this episode of the show. Carrie in the restaurant with Big is so heartbreaking. SJP played this entire episode so well. It tugs on my heart strings thinking about how sad it is must have been for Carrie to see Big with Natasha. I love that we know what happens 20 years later. It makes it all that much juicier. It's such a unique place to recap a show from and I love it.
Also, you didn't talk about it too much on the pod, but the way that music is used in the season 2 finale feels so quintessentially SATC to me. It's why I loved the finale of AJLT so much. The music beginning as Carrie walks away from Big at the end, reminding us that, in a way, it's all a fairytale. At the end of AJLT the music begins as Carrie kisses the producer....loveeee.
Looking forward to starting season 3!
I read somewhere that Carrie never called Big ‘Big’ or ‘John’ to his face until the SATC Movie. It’s so weird to think about all the seasons and all the times she’s said Big but never to his face during the series.
OK, I know I had a lot of Thoughts on the first season but damn, if I wasn't thrilled to see that AJLT is gonna be back for a second season!
HBO Max confirmed a Season 2 as well as the return of SJP, Rambo, and Kristin Davis. No news on if TV's greatest character, Che Diaz, will return — here's hopin'!
No news on WHEN, but hey... we've got momentum!
What are storylines you'd wanna see in S2?!
We’ve seen Carrie in enough crop tops to know she is stacked. Yet, we never see her character work out. So what do we think she does for a work out when we aren’t watching?
We know she buys Vogue instead of food, so she doesn’t have much cash to work with. So while she would likely love an Equinox experience, no way she can afford it. I can’t imagine she would ever be seen in a Planet Fitness, and YouTube didn’t exist during Seasons 1-6, so there’s no way she was googling yoga or Pilates videos. And though we know Charlotte runs, we never see her do it with Carrie.
And don’t tell me she’s born with it. Those abs and shoulder blades don’t come naturally. Especially not with McDonald’s.
Does she use her press pass, perhaps, for free entry into classes? Does arranging her closet simply break a sweat?
I saw Sarah Jessica Parker on WWHL last night with Andy Cohen. While she didn't confirm there would be a second season — she was cagey, like much of the reporting around the possible second season — she did say anything was possible. And when Andy Cohen was gushing about how there HAD to be a Season 2 of And Just Like That, she didn't say no. Maybe I'm reading into it, but there's a momentum with the series now that I think they'd be silly to cut short. Hopefully they take the criticism from Season 1 and apply it to a second season if HBO Max greenlights it! Let's go!
So Sarah Jessica Parker was on Watch What Happens Live! last night and being Andy Cohen's IRL bestie he was able to ask her some tough questions, that she ... kind of avoided. He asked her about the response to Che Diaz and if she thought Che was funny to which SJP said that she hadn't watched past the first two episodes.
And of course, she danced around the whole Aidan debacle. I guess the actor who played Aidan, John Corbett said he was going to be in the reboot despite never having signed on which led to fans being a little angry when there was no sign of Aidan anywhere in the reboot. Michael Patrick King and SJP essentially made John issue an apology.
I love drama.
I know a Season 2 hasn't been confirmed, but by sending her to LA, I have to wonder if that's the writers relieving Sara Ramirez / fans of the show of Che's return to the series. (I personally liked them, but obviously I'm in the minority there.) All of that said, I may be giving the writers too much credit thinking that far ahead.
I think we can all agree there are some shows with great music – Mad Men, Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, The Sopranos, Insecure, even Succession, are all shows I think of that mastered the needle drop. As much as I love Sex and the City, I never really think about it as a show with great music. But after hearing Diana Ross’ Love Hangover in a season 2 episode, I couldn’t help but wonder…is Sex and the City a show with great music? I think it might be!
Here are some musical moments from the show I really love:
The Way We Were (Barbra Streisand) – ok my first entry is technically a cheat as it’s not a needle drop, but is there anything better than Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte singing the classic ballad to Samantha? It has the easy chemistry we come to the show for and the underlying thesis that men are no good. Is it good to categorize people as us (curly girls) and them (straight-haired girls)? No. Is it honest? Abso-fucking-lutely.
Moon River (Andy Williams) – The song that in some ways define Carrie and Big’s love affair, it’s romantic; lush; and a little mournful, almost as if they already nostalgic for something they’ve lost. I wanted nothing more than a reprise of this song in And Just Like That. In my dream of dreams, we hear the great Frank Ocean version. Maybe it’s coming in season 2?
Got to Be Real (Cheryl Lynn): Is there any better moment than Carrie prancing around her apartment in the jeweled undies to this classic? It’s so joyous the camera can’t even cut to black as it should. I dare you not to “strut” around when this comes on! Also, please go look up the amazing Patti LaBelle-Mariah Carey cover. It’s vocal joy!
La belle et le bad boy (MC Solaar) – if you’re wondering what song that is, it’s the French rap song that plays during Carrie’s time in Paris in season 6. It’s a bold choice for the show and it works beautifully – as disorienting to us the audience as Carrie must feel. Also shout-out to the fact that I have more than once heard this song while drunk out of my mind at a gay bar. It brought me comfort and made me feel at home.
What are your favorite SATC music moments? Favorite shows with great soundtracks? Or songs that just remind you of the girlies.
