After everything surrounding Ezra Miller and their horrible behavior, I'm shocked that The Flash has still not been either completely tabled, or recast. Particularly with how willing DC was to squash Batgirl, you think they would be ready to make what seems to be a not so tough decision. It seems far more trouble than it's worth at this point, and seems relatively easy to recast with a new actor. What are they waiting for?
Ok, you guys! Did you check out episode one of Moon Knight (Marvel’s latest show on Disney Plus starring Oscar Isaac)?! I’m obsessed. Now.. granted… there’s not much that Marvel does that I’m not obsessed with. But with that being said, I’ve been waiting for this show! Moon Knight is one of my favorites in comics, and he’s such a complex character. He deals with dissociative identity disorder, so there are 5 different personalities at play. I love the way the show chose to display him going between the personalities. Did you watch? If so, what did you think?! Confused? Shocked? Grossed out? Loved it? SPILL IT!
We’ve seen it time and time again: Marvel hires a lovable actor, and bulks them up almost to an unreasonable level in order to play a buff superhero.
There are two problems with this:
1) This often changes the public image of said actor, in a way that’s not always appealing. Schlubby Andy Dwyer is so much more lovable than jacked Chris Pratt. Like, do we want or need Paul Rudd to have killer biceps?
2) Frankly, I’m tired of buff superheroes altogether. Over in DC, Adam West, one of our most famous Batmen, rocked a muffin top, and we loved him more for it. Why can’t we have a superhero who flexes their brain more than their muscles?
And while we’re at it, maybe let them wear some baggy pants for once. Fight crime with comfort.
