The Marvel glow-up is getting old
We’ve seen it time and time again: Marvel hires a lovable actor, and bulks them up almost to an unreasonable level in order to play a buff superhero.
There are two problems with this:
1) This often changes the public image of said actor, in a way that’s not always appealing. Schlubby Andy Dwyer is so much more lovable than jacked Chris Pratt. Like, do we want or need Paul Rudd to have killer biceps?
2) Frankly, I’m tired of buff superheroes altogether. Over in DC, Adam West, one of our most famous Batmen, rocked a muffin top, and we loved him more for it. Why can’t we have a superhero who flexes their brain more than their muscles?
And while we’re at it, maybe let them wear some baggy pants for once. Fight crime with comfort.
