Oh, Peloton... I can never escape you, can I? (And warning, I'm about to go into some minor spoilers for the first two episodes of And Just Like That..., so continue with caution.) After seeing the full trailer for the Sex and the City reboot, I theorized that Big was going to die on a Peloton. And then I amended my theory: He wasn't going to die on the Peloton, but near it, post-ride. I'm not going to say what happened, because that's not even why we're here. We're here for Allegra, Peloton's newest instructor, who looks an awful lot like Jess King.
What is there to say about Allegra other than Big, notorious playboy and sometimes total creep, obviously rides with her because she's hot? Well, she's from Barcelona, that's one thing we learn in the reboot! She seemingly promised to give Big a shoutout on his 1,000th ride, which suggests to me he's doing some major Instagram messaging begging for one. (Is that how you get a shoutout? Serious question because I'm well over 600 and haven't mastered the art.) Oh yeah, and she's played by the one and only Jess King of Peloton.
I have to give my own shoutout to The Dipp community member, mentioning_it_all who corrected me in my original theory when I suggested that Big was a Denis or Wilpers rider. I stand by Denis, but as mentioning_it_all said on The Dipp, "I feel like [Big's] a tortured man who would love Jess screaming into his soul." Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner.
Even though Big doesn't technically ride with Jess, because she's Allegra in the series, he is indeed a Jess King experiencer. I don't know how I didn't see it coming, but it makes so much sense and as a fan of the original series and an avid Peloton rider, I'm slightly ashamed I didn't put it together.
Now, as for what happens with the Peloton, I'll let you click here to find out. Because just like the road map to a Sweat Steady ride, sometimes you don't wanna know what catastrophic mountain you have to get over before doing it. I'm not sure if that metaphor made sense, but I'm gonna stand behind it. Because as Jess says, "you can’t half-ass it. You gotta use your whole ass."
