Abbott Elementary is the best show on television right now, and I'm saying this as someone who LOVES "The Drop Out" and of course our beloved Bravo programming. But Abbott Elementary really is incredible. It's warm, hilarious, familiar but new, love every single character. It just feels so nostalgic in a way that even reboots can't emulate. I have rewatched every episode multiple times like I do with other shows like Gilmore Girls or The Office, or New Girl, and it's first season isn't even complete. I can't wait to see what is in store for this perfect little show.
I have one friend who loved it, and one who thought the acting sucked and didn’t like it.
Any tie breakers out there??
I've recently been watching Station 19, the Grey's Anatomy spinoff show. Although it took me a little while to get super into it, I really like it. Obviously, not as much as Grey's but it's still very entertaining! There's an episode later in season 2 that I am absolutely scarred by and it's when Ripley dies. I think that may have been one of the saddest TV deaths I've ever seen tbh. That was most definitely Grey's Anatomy quality. It reminded me of how sad I was when Derek died (to some extent). What do you guys think? Am I being dramatic?
Let me preface this by saying I love Abbott Elementary, and adored the scene when Gregory danced goofy in front of the kids to loosen them up, and his gardening plotline. BUT, in a sea of really excellent and fun characters, I just don't see the appeal of Gregory. To me, he feels very similar to Parks and Rec's Mark Brenadanawicz: self-important and kind of a buzzkill. I feel like his character brings down the energy of every scene he's in, and I have zero investment in his romantic and career journey because of it.
I know the show's still developing its characters, but he's the one that lags behind for me. I'm probably alone in this, and open to hearing his merits, but he just doesn't do it for me. Team Tariq all the way.
So I recently just finished HIMYM for the first time _ I started watching because of the new HIMYF and I had to watch bc Hilary Duff. Anyone else let down by the ending?!?! I can't believe I lived through all those seasons and episodes just for Robin and Ted to end up together lol.
Okay so I’ve always been a Netflix girl, but recently have not had the best luck in shows on there. Of course when Selling Sunset returns I’ll be right there binge-watching, but it’s been so hard for me to find good shows recently.
That is until I watched the entire of The Dropout and started the first few episodes of The Girl From Plainville. There’s so many great options that I’ve never even heard of before, but I’ve been addicted!
What are some more Hulu shows you enjoy? Movies? I need to make a list !
