Abbott Elementary and other sitcoms with great first seasons
Abbott Elementary wrapped up this week and while I was thrilled that it was such a great finale, I'm going to depressed until it returns for its second season. This show was such a pleasant surprise and only got funnier/sweeter/better with each passing week. It can sometimes take sitcoms a while to find their footing (ahem, Seinfeld, Parks and Recreation), but Abbott Elementary was off to the races from the very start.
This got me thinking about other sitcoms that started out really strong (now whether they stayed that way is a whole other post), including Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Frasier, How I Met Your Mother and Modern Family.
Which TV comedies would you say had stellar first seasons?

Arrested DEvelopment definitely stands out in my mind as a comedy with great first seasons.
Does Freaks and Geeks count? It’s not a sitcom per se, but it’s one of the most perfect first seasons in existence.
But seconded on Arrested. It knew what it was doing almost immediately, which you can’t say about most sitcoms that need to feel it out.
I also think New Girl hit its stride pretty quickly in the first season. The Fancyman episodes kicked the show into gear.
Arrested Development is my go-to. I have never seen a series able to just nail it from beginning to end (key clarification that I consider the end to be season 3).
Also, I don’t love the series itself, but Modern Family had one of the best starts of the 2000s.
