In This Is Us' Season 5 episode, "The Ride," Kevin fully committed — he's all in y'all — to Madison and their twins, Nicholas and Franny. And by fully committed, I mean he proposed to Madison with a hospital bracelet. It's good news for Madison and Kevin shippers. But if you're someone who perhaps, oh, I don't know, was longing for him to end up with childhood friend and ex-wife, it may be a tough pill to swallow. But does this mean that Madison and Kevin are married in the This Is Us fast forward and that Sophie is completely out of the picture ? "Never say never," according to actor and director of "The Ride," Jon Huertas.

In an interview with EW, Huertas (Miguel on the show) and This Is Us writer Julia Brownell addressed the potential concerns of Sophie/Kevin shippers following Kevin's proposal to Madison in the most recent episode of the season.

"I think that... never say never," Huertas told the publication. "Especially in television and especially with This Is Us." The actor/director continued to say that while Sophie and Kevin had audiences invested, the show is really trying to tell the love story between Madison and Kevin in recent episodes. "... I think there's a really big part of our audience that is really starting to get invested in that relationship ... Our writers kind of have to take a cue from the audience a little bit and see what the audience is thinking, feeling about Kevin and Madison, and act accordingly."
