The Samantha-less Sex And The City revival continues to move forward, and they've got new cast members to prove it. Three new actors have officially joined the cast of And Just Like That... HBO Max announced that Nicole Ari Parker, Sarita Choudhury, and Karen Pittman would appear on For those counting, that's four new characters that have been announced so far. But do any of them have what it takes to fill the void left by Kim Cattrall?
It's still unclear how they're going to write Samantha out of And Just Like That..., or how these new characters will be connected to Carrie, Miranda, and/or Charlotte. But I have to assume that, at the very least, one or more of them will have to bring some of Samantha's unabashed sexual energy to the series. So, I'm going to break down the new Sex And The City characters based on their New Samantha potential. It's not a science, it's a lifestyle.
Dr. Nya Wallace
Karen Pittman will star as Dr. Nya Wallace, a Columbia Law professor described as "brilliant" and "challenging." Just two words to describe the character, but I'm not feeling any Samantha-spark here. Based on her profession, I'm going to assume that Nya's connection to the group will be through Miranda, who left her big law firm behind in Sex And The City 2. Maybe Miranda is starting a new career as a teacher when And Just Like That... picks up.

Seema Patel
Played by Sarita Choudhury, Seema is described as a "single, self-made powerhouse Manhattan real estate broker." TBH, her character bio screams Samantha to me. A single woman dedicated to building her career? Samantha would definitely approve. However, that doesn't necessarily mean she's going to be sipping cosmos with Carrie and the girls on a Friday night. I'm cautiously optimistic about her being a Samantha-ish character, but I'm not fully confident.

Lisa Todd Wexley
Nicole Ari Parker will play Lisa Todd Wexley, a "Park Avenue mother of three and documentarian." Now, on it's own, that doesn't sound super Samantha-like, but I do think casting here is key. There's just something playful and sexy about everything Parker does (you know her from Empire, Brown Sugar, and Boogie Nights). Plus, Parker has already been spotted on set filming with Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis, which makes me think she'll be a part of the crew. And the fact that Lisa is a mother of three makes me think she's got a freak flag that desperately needs to fly when she's with the ladies.

Che Diaz
Sara Ramirez joined the Sex And The City revival back in May, playing Che Diaz, a "non-binary, queer, stand-up comedian" with a podcast who frequently has Carrie on as a guest. According to HBO, "Che is a big presence," which feels like code for "they're just as loud, unfiltered, and funny as Samantha." Their early casting announcement and detailed character description makes me think they're definitely going to satisfy Samantha stans' desire for some outrageous, over-sized, sexy fun.

Of course, no one could ever really replace Samantha, but I'm sure HBO Max will have a lot of fun trying.
