Bennifer who? Forget the nostalgia couple, the hot new pair vacationing in Italy is Selling Sunset co-stars Chrishell Strause and Jason Oppenheim. In today's installment of, "bet you didn't see this one coming," Chrishell and Jason confirmed their relationship on Instagram with a series of photos from their Selling Sunset cast vacation to Italy.
I am STUNNED. And not just because it seems to have come out of nowhere. Jason himself has said he wasn't interested in dating a co-star, so you can understand my confusion. "That's such a big bowl of mess that I don't need to get into," he told People last year. "I've never dated anyone that was working at the Oppenheim Group, and there's no one that I would consider." If only he knew...
Granted, Chrishell didn't exactly confirm the romantic relationship on her social media — she captioned her Instagram post "The JLo effect" — but based on the photos and the comments of her co-stars, it's pretty obvious they're an item. In all the group photos, Chrishell is standing next to Jason, and the carousel also features a few shots of the duo getting awfully close.
It's actually Brett Oppenheim, Jason's twin brother, who seemed to confirm the coupling, commenting on Chrishell's post, "Love you Chrishell. Thank you for making my brother happy." Romain Bonnet, who is married to Jason's ex-girlfriend and current co-star Mary Fitzgerald, also chimed in. "So happy for you guys!" he wrote, adding, "Finally people will stop with Jason and Mary hopefully." Jason, meanwhile, commented with a single heart emoji. Mary, Amanza Smith, and Brett's girlfriend Tina Louise also celebrated the couple in the comments.
Jason later explicitly confirmed the news, telling Entertainment Tonight, "Chrishell and I became close friends and it has developed into an amazing relationship. I care about her deeply and we are very happy together."
Of course, the real question is whether or not Jason and Chrishell's budding relationship will be featured on Selling Sunset when it returns for Season 4. There are a couple factors we need to consider to get the answer.
- The cast reportedly started filming in May, right around the time Chrishell confirmed she had split from her boyfriend, DWTS's Keo Motsep.
- In her Instagram comment, Amanza wrote that she was "so happy it's out," which could hint that Chrishelle and Jason have been dating privately for a while.
- Selling Sunset has been renewed for two seasons — 4 & 5 — and reportedly filmed seasons 2 & 3 back to back for roughly six months.
Taking all those factors into consideration, it looks like Chrishell and Jason's romance will definitely be making it into either Season 4 or Season 5 of Selling Sunset. And I WILL be watching.
