8 Theories On How 'Outlander' Season 6 May Incorporate Future Book Storylines

Outlander Season 6 may only just be in the early days of production, but Sam Heughan has already begun teasing what the next installment has in store. In an interview with Parade.com, the Jamie actor hinted that Outlander Season 6 could feature book storylines that go beyond Book 6 and Book 7, which would mean some significant jumps into the future for Season 6. But it's not like the Starz series is afraid of a little time travel, right? So let's explore the possibilities.

Season 5 of Outlander used major plots from the sixth book in Diana Gabaldon's series, A Breath of Snow and Ashes. When asked by Parade.com if Season 6 will do the same with Book 7, Heughan gave a rather interesting reply. "... I would say because we have so much history and time travel and all that, we can pull from any book," Heughan said. "So there may be not just Book 7 but other books we pull from."

There's already a lot of the events of A Breath of Snow and Ashes for Season 6 to cover with the confirmation that the Christies will be coming to Fraser's Ridge. But Heughan's comment has me thinking about how the show could also weave in moments from An Echo in the Bone (Echo) and Written in My Own Heart's Blood (MOBY).

As Lord John Grey is probably not in Season 6, there's no reason to worry about that Claire and Lord John storyline going down (you know the one). And if the show isn't ready to make William Ransom a major character yet (though there have been recent casting rumors), then that dramatically impacts certain American Revolution storylines. Plus, a trip to Scotland may not be in the cards if Season 6 ends with the fire at Fraser's Ridge.
