If this is indeed the direction the film goes in, I feel like it could be an interesting feminist look at the world we live in today. Doofus Ken loves the "real world," which no doubt benefits him as a white man, while Barbie prefers Barbieland, where she is the more powerful half who can embark on any career or life decision that gatekeeps most women in the real world. I'd love to see this approach come to life via Greta Gerwig in the year 2022.
