I’m not knocking anyone’s hustle and I do have sympathy for the women hustled by the Tinder Swindler. I noticed that the women on the documentary have launched a gofundme for the money they were swindled out off. With that being said, I would never donate to their fundraiser because they willingly took our hundreds of thousands of loans for this dude. It’s different when a vulnerable person is getting scammed and not knowing it — but the amount they willingly took out for this guy was literally reckless. What I will say is I do NOT blame them for capitalizing on this fame. I would too. But maybe I’d start a business or sell a product instead of straight up asking for a handout.
I mea yea I totally agree with this but also have started to think that people featured in true crime / scandal / docu-series have become so popular that it's almost become a weird industry in itself. Like people will be interviewed for witnessing a murder and all of a sudden are pushing products on IG, selling merch, etc. and I think it's weird.
hellllll no. I have my own fiscally irresponsible mistakes to try to fix. sorry babe, I dont care how good the d was, you worry about your loans and ill worry about mine.
It's this weird feeling right, because you don't want to victim blame but then you find yourself being like "girlies why would you do this"...
I totally understand why you wouldn't want to donate to their GoFundMe (I'm not sure I would either) but I also can't blame them for doing this. I hope Netflix paid them well for their participation in the doc..but I can't imagine how much they're making off the story. (Way more than $800k I'd guess) I am shocked that he was able to swindle SO many women, but that just shows you he knew exactly how to manipulate people, and how to pick women that he could easily manipulate and control.
