First birthday gift for BFF’s baby

I love this baby girl as if she were my own, but I feel totally stuck on what you give a one year old? I want to get her a cute outfit but I know that it’s such a waste because she has so many clothes and will grow out of it by summer’s end (ugh but a baby in a lily pulitzer dress is just so cute).

I was thinking a custom book for her first bday? Then maybe that’s my THING — I get her a custom book until she is old enough to realize books as a gift are boring.

Any advice from either moms (happy mothers’ day btw!) or people who have been in a similar sitch.
