Hey, it's not so wonderful kind of day! After 25 years on the air, Arthur has been canceled at PBS Kids. And we at The Dipp would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Arthur lookalike John Legend and his family at this difficult time.
It's no secret, EGOT winner John Legend has been the closest thing we've had to a real life Arthur the aardvark for years. There's just something about his small eyes and round ears that make him indistinguishable from the animated character who taught us all about life, friendship, and family. Even his wife, Chrissy Teigen, agrees. She trolled him so hard on Twitter about it — even posting a photos of their children and "daddy" (aka a stuffed animal Arthur) — that Legend ended up recreating Arthur's signature look in a Google commercial released in 2018. He even did the angry Arthur meme, proving that the two really are one and the same.
Later that same year, Legend promised during an appearance on The Tonight Show, "One day I'll cover the theme song." Well, sir, there's only one new season left, and according to series developer and writer Kathy Waugh, Arthur wrapped two years ago already. If you want to follow through on your promise and solidify your connection to our dear, dear Arthur, you better do it now!
