Family is everything to the Pearsons on This Is Us. In fact, it's the entire fabric of the show, where no stone of a character's backstory is left unturned. So if that's the case, and we truly have been given no reason to think otherwise, where on earth is Rebecca's sister? Five seasons into This Is Us, and she still remains nameless and unseen as an adult.

This thought has been nagging at me for weeks, so I decided to investigate what we know about her, why she's persona non grata, and when we may see her again in the This Is Us-verse.

We first meet Rebecca's sister donning little pigtails in Season 1. She and Rebecca are playing on the floor, while their mom tells them to pack up their dolls and move out of the way. Daddy's watching the Super Bowl. (It's always the Super Bowl, you know?)

Rebecca's mom looks straight out of The Stepford Wives, and the flashback mainly serves for Rebecca to vow to never be like her mom waiting for her husband to ask her for a beer while he's staring at the TV. This is the only glimpse we ever see of Rebecca's sister, Pippi Longstocking hair and all.

In the same episode, Jack and Rebecca watch the 1980 Super Bowl at Froggy's, where they get into an argument about when they want to have kids. Rebecca reminds him "that I did not want to be one of those women whose sole purpose in life was to be a mother. If that's what you wanted, you should have married my mom."
