Being a Real Housewife is hard, but being a Real Housewife's kid might be even harder, and no one knows this better than the Jersey girls. Season 12 of the Real Housewives of New Jersey premiered Tuesday night, but before the Giudice daughters were old enough to give relationship advice and before the Goldschneider twins were even a blink in Jackie's eye, there was the OG of RHONJ adolescent drama: Ashlee Malleo Laurita.
Ashlee appeared on the show as Jacqueline Laurita's rebellious daughter – you remember her: She moved in with Jacqueline and Jacqueline's husband Chris Manzo, didn't get good grades in high school, whined about not getting the car she wanted, and ultimately made history with the now iconic Housewives' franchise line, "Love and light – stay in the positive, bitch," which she yelled at Danielle Staub after pulling her hair in the epic Season 2 Posche Fashion Show fight.
Love to hate her, hate to love her, Ashlee was one of the first Jersey kids to leave an impression. When Ashlee joined the series, the Giudice girls were eight, five, three, and unborn; the Manzo boys weren't very interesting, mostly because they were just very likable; and Dina's daughter Lexi was a ray of sunshine, too bright to cause any clouds. Ashlee, on the other hand, brought something new to the table: teen angst.
But that was 13 years ago. Today, Ashlee is a 31-year-old divorced mom to a kindergartner who's pursuing her passion for makeup artistry while hosting a weekly podcast called Your Mom Friends. She's matured a lot since Season 1 – haven't we all?
