Cody Rigsby Ripped His Pants On 'DWTS' & We Didn't Even Notice

After a complicated few weeks on Dancing With the Stars, Cody Rigsby returned to the ballroom for the first time since the premiere episode and what a return it was. Being away for two weeks due to COVID put a lot of pressure on Cody and his partner Cheryl Burke, as the two received less than stellar scores during their time away. But thanks to Disney Week, A Goofy Movie, and a plentiful costume budget, Cody and Cheryl received their highest score of the season.

But there was one thing that happened during their jive to "Stand Out" that I think it is safe to say wasn't part of the choreography... when Cody ripped his pants at the very end of the performance. Welcome back to live TV, Cody!

Yes, Cody literally danced his ass off on the ballroom stage in order to cement himself as a competitor on night one of two during Disney Week. At the very end of the performance you can catch a surprised looking Cody reacting to something we the audience can't see. If I had to guess, I would say it happened somewhere around... here.

Cody took to his Instagram after the performance to inform us all that yes, indeed, those pants ripped and he was having a costume designer patch them up while coming to us live from behind the scenes.

Despite the minor costume malfunction, Cody's performance was truly one of his best yet. Not only was I smiling the entire time, but so was Cody. You could tell that he was having so much fun with the dance itself, as well as his return to the ballroom.

But this wouldn't be a weekly recap of his performance without a little dance talk. First of all, I think it's important to note the duo had a very limited amount of time to work together this week, with Cody being cleared to return to Los Angeles on Friday. So that gave him and Cheryl just a few days to rehearse together to prepare for their back-to-back performances this week. Knowing that, you've got to give them some grace for the performance not being perfect. That said, I agree with Len that this particular dance didn't have a lot of partnering for a jive. But again, maybe chalk that up to their shortened rehearsal time.

Luckily for all of us, there was no elimination last night since Disney week is a two-night extravaganza with Monday being "Heroes" night, and Tuesday being "Villains" night. Cody is set to take on the iconic role of Gaston on Tuesday and, you know what they say, "no one fights like Cody, douses lights like Cody" (...see what I did there?).

In the meantime, relive Cody's "goofy" dance below. And, Alexa, play 'The Ripped Pants Song" from Spongebob Squarepants.
