Outlander fans have had a lot of time — and I mean, a lot — to consider how the Starz series will adapt A Breath of Snow and Ashes in Season 6. But with it being such a long and complicated novel, it's good to have an expert like Courtney Williams of Outlander Behind the Scenes to unpack it all. On May 12, she joined me for a Zoom event to discuss just how the TV adaptation is going to bring Diana Gabaldon's sixth Outlander book to the screen.
Even with Season 5 pulling from A Breath of Snow and Ashes, Courtney still thinks Season 6 will stick to the events of Book 6. And why not? The season needs to potentially fit in the Christies, the gold and the Bugs (or maybe not the Bugs?), and an adult William. We may not know who they are going to cast as Jamie's secret son — though the audience and Courtney had a few suggestions (William Shatner, is that you?) — but with David Berry hanging around Glasgow on social media, the forecast is looking good for the return of Lord John Grey and a possible LJG spinoff.
We also consider what future Outlander could look like if (gasp!) leads Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan were eventually recast. Spoiler alert: it wasn't a hugely popular idea with our attendees in the chat. Check out the entire conversation below and here's an actual spoiler alert for the books series.
Courtney has exciting Outlander content to come with where-they-are-now features about past cast members and her BTS Lasses discussion group getting back together, so be sure to follow OutlanderBTS. And stay tuned for more virtual events from The Dipp trying to uncover all the secrets of Outlander Season 6.
