Move over hot chef, Emily in Paris is all about the sexy banker now. Season 2 of the swoony Parisian comedy introduces a new love interest for Emily, a British banker named Alfie who she meets in French class. At first the two clash due to Alfie's total ambivalence toward the City of Lights, but it doesn't take long for the ex-pats to fall for each other. As for me, a viewer, it took about 2.5 seconds to start crushing on Alfie and his portrayer, Lucien Laviscount.
The 29-year-old actor is so effortlessly charming as Alfie it's hard not to root for him, no matter your feelings about Gabriel. As for Laviscount, it wasn't hard for him to get into character, especially since he had never visited Paris before filming on Season 2 commenced. "It was actually my first time in Paris," he told Time in a recent interview. "It was literally like Lucien in Paris! The city is like a huge museum with the roof taken off— everything is a spectacle. It's got this mystery and culture and this energy that lifts through it. I was just blown away by being there."
Clearly, Laviscount is far less cynical than his Emily in Paris counterpart, but they both share a cheeky charm that's hard to resist. Ready to get to know Laviscount better? Read on for everything you need to know about your latest Netflix crush.
Yes, Laviscount Has An Instagram
While he's not the most active Instagram user, Laviscount makes every post worth your while. What I'm saying is, the man loves a good glamour shot, and I love him for it. But he also posts about his latest projects, so if you're trying to figure out where to see the actor next, go ahead and give him a follow.
He Once Appeared On Celebrity Big Brother
Way back in 2011, Laviscount appeared on the British series Celebrity Big Brother. At the time, he was 19, and he definitely made the most of his time stuck in the house. He ended up embracing his moment of reality show fame by flirting with two of his fellow housemates: Kerry Katona and Amy Childs.
In Addition To Acting, He Also Dabbled In Music
These days, Laviscount is focused on his acting career, but at one point he attempted to break into the pop and R&B scene with his single "Dance With You." In 2012, he told Digital Spy that he wanted his music video to be an "epic film within the three and a half minutes." He mostly pulls it off, too, thanks to the video's strong rom-com vibes.
Ryan Murphy Is Already A Big Fan Of Laviscount
If you're wondering where you've seen Laviscount before, the actor began his career as a British soap star on Grange Hill before making a splash stateside with his roles on Scream Queens and Katy Keene. In an interview with Bleu Magazine, he revealed Murphy created the role of Earl Grey just for him.
"When Mr. Murphy found it within himself to write me a role in Scream Queens, I jumped at the opportunity to deliver what his incredibly beautiful & twisted mind had in store," he told the magazine. Since then, he's worked for Shonda Rhimes on Still Star-Crossed and now Darren Star on Emily in Paris.
With his star on the rise, it's unclear if the actor will return for Emily in Paris Season 3, but you can bet playing Alfie is going to earn him a whole lot of new fans.
