Move over Joe, there's a new inappropriate crush in town on You and his name is Theo. Granted, Theo's only flaw is that he's a 19-year-old college student, which is a pretty big improvement over Joe's whole obsessive stalker/murderer deal. Throughout Season 3, Theo proves to be an adorable, witty bright light in Love and Joe's detour through suburbia, and I can't stop thinking about all of the moments the proud fem-gen major made me swoon.
Given how easily he cracked yoga mom jokes and flirted for food, it's easy to see why Love let herself fall for Theo. He's pretty much the antithesis of Joe: he's emotionally available, supportive, and genuine in his affections. And yes, he can be a bit too persistent in his flirting, but he always knew when to back off and just be a friend.
Plus, on top of all that, he's a caring son who looks after his spiraling (hot) dad Matthew in the wake of his wife's murder. Theo absolutely walked away with You Season 3, and all of the credit goes to Dylan Arnold for bringing the character to life with such an easy charm. 1.That Time He Wasn't Flirting, Just Begging For Free Food
Love tried so hard to resist her attraction to Theo early on that she laid down the law about his constant flirting, and called him out when he fed her a line about losing his wallet. But even a hardened serial killer like Love couldn't deny the guy a cupcake when he insisted he wasn't flirting, but rather "begging for food."
2. When He Roasted Joe With A David Yates Reference
Sometimes it feels like Joe only thinks he and the women he obsesses over read books, so it was hilarious when Theo's crack about his lawn and well-timed reference to author David Yates left Joe dumbstruck for once.
3. The Time He Rolled With Love's Roleplaying
Poor Theo wandered into the middle of Love and Joe's attempt to rekindle their marriage through roleplaying, but to his credit, he rolled with Love's flirting. And the fact that he did so while wearing a tie-dyed hoodie that only highlighted his geeky cool vibe is just a bonus.
4. When He Got Caught Drunk Driving On A Scooter
Drunk driving is never funny... except for maybe when someone is caught drunk driving on an actual scooter. Even Love cracked up after she realized Theo didn't actually get in a car after drinking too much, and she was even rewarded with a ride on said scooter which led to a hookup in the park before the night was over.
5. And When He Absolutely Smashed His Physical Therapy Session
Thankfully, Theo and his dad both managed to survive becoming entangled with Love and Joe. But Theo had a close call after he was bludgeoned on the head and fell down the bakery's basement staircase. In one of the final scenes of the season, viewers are treated to one more Theo joke, proving Love's betrayal hasn't broken his spirit or made him lose his wonderfully snarky sense of humor.
You Season 3 was a weird and wild ride, but for me, the highlight will always be meeting Theo. Here's hoping he returns at some point, because Arnold deserves another chance to baffle Joe with his goofy jokes.
