Here at The Dipp, we love talking about TV — it's kind of our thing — so much so that we decided to make a podcast about it. In TV. Watch. Repeat., The Dipp's inaugural podcast, co-hosts Kate Ward and Allison Piwowarski are rewinding and revisiting some of the most iconic, memorable, and (quite frankly) pioneering TV show pilots of all time, and exploring their origin stories. And when it came to choosing our first episode, there was only one way to go: The Real Housewives of Orange County pilot.

Bravo's RHOC, which first premiered in 2006, created a juggernaut in the reality TV landscape that no one — OK, maybe Vicki Gunvalson — saw coming. It wrote the book in the lifestyles of the rich and famous, and paved the way for not only nine other American cities within the franchise, but reality TV as a whole.

And while the pilot was doing God's work in planting the seeds that would eventually grow into the fruit trees that would provide for the New York and Atlanta intros, it, in a way, feels completely unrecognizable. Come for the studded tank tops and spoiled children, and stay for Lauri's melodramatic introduction as the woman from the outside looking into the Coto de Caza community.

Plus, take a walk down memory lane as we remember that money comes and goes, but Slade Smiley is forever.
