Premium- This Is Us -Will Kevin & Madison Get Back Together? 'This Is Us' Executive Producer Ken Olin Weighs In On Their Future
Kevin Pearson wants what he can't have, especially when it comes to relationships. And in the finale of This Is Us Season 5, Kevin lost Madison. After realizing that Kevin wasn't really in love with her, but instead was going to marry her because he's Jack Pearson's son and that's what you do when you're Jack Pearson's son, Madison left him on their wedding day. It was for the best, at the time, but that doesn't mean there won't be a fallout from the breakup between the two.
Enter: the Season 5 This Is Us finale flash forward, in which Kevin and Madison are... cordial. Or together? Or maybe they're just properly co-parenting? Can I say that they almost seem like... friends? Yeah, I'm going to say they seem like friends.
There's clearly more to the story when it comes to Kevin and Madison's relationship, so The Dipp's reporter, Olivia Truffaut Wong, went right to the source, This Is Us' executive producer Ken Olin. We asked Olin about the future of the couple, how Kevin will handle the breakup in the immediate future, and if the door is completely closed. (Hint: It's not.)
On how Kevin will respond to the breakup
"One of the things we try to avoid — and we have been pretty successful — is redundancy. And if Kevin was to get in trouble again, if he were to start using again, if he were to cheat or be really cavalier in his relationships, or be irresponsible as a father, you would have to go about it in a way that was fresh."
