Netflix's Sherlock Homes-adjacent teen drama The Irregulars is a lot of things: mysterious, funny, and above all else, genuinely terrifying. It's one thing to be tasked with staking a vampire, but it's quite another to take down a woman who used an Ouija board to deal with her grief and ended up turning into a twisted version of the Tooth Fairy. Throughout Season 1 of The Irregulars, the show introduces characters who turn to the supernatural to deal with their grief and pain, but instead of finding peace, they're "gifted" with dangerous abilities instead.
And trust me, those abilities lead to some truly nail-biting scenes, which is why I've ranked The Irregulars' powers from unsettling to hide-behind-a-pillow-until-it's-over levels of scary. If you're a scaredy cat like me, feel free to use this as your guide to which episodes should only be watched with the lights on.
Spoilers for Season 1 of The Irregulars follow.
8. Sister Anna
In the finale, Sister Anna prays for salvation, and ends up gaining super strength and an urge to cleanse the world of the unpure. It's definitely not ideal, but in the grand scheme of things, this particular power isn't so much scary as it is inconvenient for Spike, Leo, and Billy, who find themselves trapped with her in the cellar.
