Sound bites, fake scenes, and curated drama... look, we all know producer manipulation happens on the Bachelor, but for some reason, when former contestants admit to their experiences personally, it's fascinating.
Here are seven Bachelor Nation members who have exposed producer manipulation, and have gotten honest about what their experiences were really like on the show.
Clayton Echard
When talking about Bachelor Clayton, Nick Viall said on The Viall Files podcast that “they got a Bachelor who was willing to be super easy to work with.” Which, should we take to mean, they got a Bachelor who was willing to be super easy to manipulate?
Clayton detailed his experience of producer meddling with Kaitlyn Bristowe on her podcast, Off The Vine. When asked if he got to choose the order of his fantasy suite dates, he said, “No, I didn’t.”
He even said he was influenced to have his front-runner, Susie Evans, go last. “They came in and said we think you should do it this way and they convinced me.” It didn’t sound like it took too much convincing. The logic producers used was, “You need to keep your other options open, you need to keep everything open.” and, “if Susie goes first, we are afraid you are going to close off.”
Essentially, they didn’t want Clayton to pull a Clare and ride off into the sunset with Susie mid-show. But having Susie go last seriously impacted their relationship. Clayton infamously ended his season by sleeping with Gabby and Rachel before getting to Susie’s fantasy suite.
