'The Baby-Sitters Club' Season 2 Said "Shannon Who?"

I guess seven is a crowd, because there was no room for Shannon Kilbourne in Season 2 of The Baby-Sitters Club. And look, I'm not an unreasonable person. I know Shannon was a minor character in the grand scheme of things, but I still believe the associate member of the BSC deserved better than becoming a footnote in the show's second season.

Shannon first appeared on the scene in The Baby-Sitters Club #11 "Kristy and the Snobs," where she was introduced as an antagonist for Kristy. When the president of the BSC moves into Watson's ritzy neighborhood, she inadvertently ends up in a babysitting turf war with Shannon and her little sister, Tiffany, who were the go-to sitters before Kristy showed up with a business plan so thought-out it would make adult humans weep.

The two proceeded to torture each other with some truly diabolical pranks that would never fly today (at one point, Shannon tricked Kristy into thinking the house was on fire during a sitting job, because that's a normal thing to do). But by the end of the book, Shannon becomes Kristy's first real friend in her new neighborhood, and she joins the club as an associate member. From there on out, she pops up at club meetings and even gets to narrate chapters in some of the Super Specials. She's never a huge presence, but she definitely earns her spot in the club.
