Move over Luke Gulbranson, Hannah Berner doesn't need your weird jewelry because she's got a new piece from someone very special. On Wednesday, March 3, Summer House star Hannah announced that she is engaged to Des Bishop. The Irish comedian reportedly popped the question on Valentine's Day, and Hannah is already in wedding planning mode. "We want to get married sooner than later," she told People. "He's my best friend. Why wait?"
This is exciting news for #TeamHannah, who have watched her engage in a not-so-healthy flirtation/non-relationship with Luke since Season 4 of Summer House. Just last week, fans watched as the Bravo stars awkwardly attempted to talk out their issues (it didn't go that well). But given that we now know the future, and know that Hannah will move on from the Luke drama and find happiness with a new man is definitely a relief. There's only so much Luke-Hannah drama the human body can handle.
Hannah and Des began dating in July of 2020 after connecting on Instagram (he slid into her DMs) — mid pandemic and seemingly just before filming on Summer House Season 5 began. And, yeah, the timeline is confusing — so far on Season 5, Hannah has not mentioned a new man, nor does she seem to be over Luke. It's possible that Hannah and Des originally connected in July, pre-filming, but didn't really have their relationship take off until after her six-weeks spent in a COVID production bubble. Or maybe Hannah's just a really, really good actress?
We know for sure that filming wrapped either in late August or early September, and the couple made it Instagram official on Sept. 6. By October, Hannah and Des were living together in West Hamptons. "If we're going to fail, let's fail fast," Hannah said during an October episode of Amanda Hirsch's Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. "Most people are like, 'I don't know if we're ready to move in.' No — if we can't move in together, then why are we even fucking dating?" Now, five months later, Hannah couldn't be happier, telling People, "We're very excited. It all happened so fast, but when you know, you know."
