I think this just affirms that you had a good idea and you’re a genius!

I once had this great idea for a washer that would automatically dump the clothes into the dryer without you having to switch them. Then I visited a friend’s apartment and saw she had a COMBINATION washer/dryer. Not only was my idea done already, but it was executed 10x better. 

This happens to me every single time I watch Shark Tank. The worst moment for me, though, was when I was Big Fat Liar'd on a movie I wrote in high school that later went on to be an Oscar nominated film. I've got the paper from freshmen year LANGUAGE ARTS. TIME STAMPED! 

Tonight, I was minding my own business eating some hummus from Trader Joes, thinking about how fun it would be to start a brand of hummus called, "Yummus Hummus". It's cute, fun and I could even picture many different flavors. So I open up my Instagram and search, "Yummus Hummus" and what do you know? There's already a hummus brand out there called "Yummus Hummus". There's also a plant based food brand called, "Yummus". 

Anyway, have you ever thought of a great idea only to learn it's already a thing / taken? How did it make you feel? I'll always remember "Yummus Hummus". 

Is there a worse feeling than finding out something you just thought of already exists?
