There's such a thing as a Real Housewives Season 2 glow up. Most of the time it means a new hair style or at least one new facial feature. (Teeth, it's usually teeth.) But Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member Jen Shah decided to take that sophomore glow up and turn it up a notch and got herself some federal charges for Season 2. On Tuesday, Jen Shah was arrested for "charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering" that connect to a telemarketing scam, according to NBC New York. So naturally, I have two questions: What happens to the Shah Squad now? And will Jen's arrest be on RHOSLC Season 2?
According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Jen and her "assistant/partner" Stuart Smith were arrested on Tuesday morning and are supposed to appear in a Salt Lake City federal court on Tuesday afternoon. (Perhaps not the time, but of course Jen's partner is also her assistant.)
The two have been charged with "conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with telemarketing, and conspiracy to commit money laundering," according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, the special agent in charge of the New York field office of Homeland Security, and the commissioner of the New York City Police Department.
Of note? Salt Lake City is very much filming right now. According to @housewivesofslc Instagram account, the season started filming in late February, before Season 1 even finished airing. All of the women were asked back (yes, including Meredith, who you know is very engaged right now), and I, for one, was excited to see a Jen Shah Season 2 with her making semi-good with Mary M. Cosby and admitting she had anger problems she needed to work on.
If we are to assume that the Housewives are gonna keep being "real," then we could very well see this all unfold on a black screen with white font that explains the arrest. With that said, obviously the preferred way for the audience to see this go down is via found footage, a la the Michael Darby footage in Potomac Season 4. But beggars can't be choosers.
I know, I know. It's all a lot to take in. And to really blow this day out of the water, I'm about to say something I never thought I was going to say: Bring! Back! Brooks! Marks! And! Give! Him! A! CGI! Snowflake! To! Hold! We need him and his solo tracksuit to weigh in, stat.
A representative for Bravo said the "network is not commenting" on Jen Shah's arrest.
