Eboni K. Williams is ready to make reality TV history. As the first Black Housewife on Real Housewives of New York, the lawyer is taking her seat at the table, and... pissing off Luann. As Eboni's best moments from the RHONY Season 13 trailer show, she is not to be underestimated.
Eboni officially joined the RHONY cast in October of 2020, and she made it clear from the beginning that she was not going to take this opportunity lightly. "This franchise historically has not had a Black lens, and now it will for the first time in 13 years," she told Essence after her casting was announced. "It is my great hope that my presence on this show will just do it justice. Do Black women justice." In a separate statement, Eboni also warned, "I'm going to keep it just as real here as I do everywhere else."
Based on the first footage of RHONY Season 13, it looks like Eboni has more than lived up to her promises. In fact, her best moments in the trailer are when she stands up to the rest of the cast — which seems like something that's going to happen a lot.
Eboni Takes The Housewives To Harlem
Eboni is, apparently, taking the girls uptown. It's great that she wants to push her co-stars Leah McSweeney, Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, and Sonja Morgan outside their comfort zones, but it's really the ladies' reaction to her "Welcome to Harlem" toast that makes the moment. Put this in the Louvre.
Drinks!
Eboni already knew Leah before being cast on RHONY, but she's new to the rest of the cast. What better way to make friends than to hop behind the bar and make everyone a cocktail? (Famous last words for these ladies.)
Eboni's "Tweak" Skills
One clip in the trailer features what looks like Sonja, Eboni, and Leah dancing around a hotel lobby wearing various black leather getups. Not only does it show that Eboni isn't afraid to let loose in public (always a plus for a Housewife), it also teases just how awkward things might get. "Oooh, you can tweak!" Sonja comments (not a typo). Chef kiss.
"I'm Not Toni Morrison In This Bitch!"
By far one of the stand out moments in the trailer is when Eboni declares she's absolutely not going to teach her white cast mates everything about race. "I'm not Toni Morrison in this bitch! I can't be teaching y'all everything," she exclaims while sipping drinks with fellow RHONY newbie, Bershan Shaw. (Let us pray that nobody responds, "Who is Toni Morrison?")
"The Help"
She might not want to have to educate the other Housewives, but she's not afraid to confront problematic behavior when she sees it. Like when she confronts Ramona for calling her household employees "the help," to which Ramona responds, "Here's to hospitality assistance." And this seems like it's just the beginning of what's to come between these two.
The Smartest Of Them All
During an outdoor lunch at Luann's, presumably after the women have painted a naked man, Eboni stakes her claim on being the "smart one," declaring, "I have more education, frankly, than anybody at this table." Luann does not take this comment kindly, warning, "Don't come into my house and tell me I don't have an education." Eboni's response — "I can leave your house, Lu."
Eboni Vs. Ramona
In one scene, Ramona sits down with Eboni and says she's "preaching," but when Eboni calls her behavior "gaslighting," Ramona turns it around and accuses Eboni of gaslighting her instead. I'm not even sure Ramonacoaster knows what that means!
"Get The Fuck Out"
My favorite Eboni moment in the trailer, however, comes towards the end, when she bluntly tells the Housewives, "If you don't want to be here and listen, get the fuck out." I love a Housewife who isn't afraid of kicking the other women out of her home.
Forget the apple, from the trailer alone, Eboni earned the full bushel. Check out the entire Season 13 trailer below.
