For quite some time, there's been this void in the Bravo Cinematic Universe. Something has been missing and no one could put their finger on what it was... until Peacock announced the reboot of The Real Housewives of Miami. Suddenly, it all made sense. We were missing our Florida girls. We were whole again.
So far there have been five episodes of the new RHOM, and let me tell you, it is the best show on TV (well, on Peacock). We get some new cast members and some of the OG girls, including Season 1 and Season 4 OG Larsa Pippen.
Larsa, you'll remember, is kinda best known for (aside from being married to NBA all-star Scottie Pippen) her friendship with the Kardashians, and the girls of the RHOM reboot wasted no time addressing that. Adriana de Moura says within the first six minutes of the first episode, Larsa's "face is different, her boobs are bigger and her butt is even bigger. I think she is now becoming the Kim Kardashian look-a-like."
And she isn't necessarily wrong; Larsa looks a lot like Kim. Which begs the question, how awkward is that, given the fact that Kim and Larsa had a pretty public, yet mysterious falling out? All I'm saying is it must be odd to have plastic surgery that really resembles that of your best friend, and then you two stop speaking? So you're like twinsies, but not talking? What's going on there.
As most fall outs do, it all started with a Kanye West tweet from 18 months ago.
July 2020: Kanye West Starts Questioning Larsa
On July 21, 2020, Kanye West went on one of his famous Twitter rampages, and during this fury of tweets, one of them simply said "Larsa" with a thinking face emoji. Internet sleuths everywhere tried to figure what it all meant, and we got our answer a couple days later.
July 2020: The Great Unfollowing
Basically immediately after the Kanye tweet, people realized that Kim and Larsa no longer followed each other on Instagram, aka their friendship was over. A source told Entertainment Weekly, "The Kardashians felt Larsa wasn’t bringing the best energy to their friendships and slowly drifted. No one has negative feelings toward one another, but they didn’t see a reason to continue to stay close."
And Larsa posted in an Instagram Story that she was focusing on her family and her fitness business. Which was just the beginning, because...
On Nov 9, 2020: Larsa Did A Podcast
Larsa went on the podcast Hollywood Raw and got very honest about her relationship with the Kardashians, and blames Kanye for her falling out with the family. She said, "If Kanye feels like him and Kim are better without me, then let them be without me. I’m OK with that," she said. "I will survive. I want everyone to be happy!"
Then she went on to talk about the unfollowing on Instagram, "I didn’t feel any type of way. I just felt, like, do what’s best for your family. I love you, you and I are best friends, we’ve been through everything together, I would never do anything to jeopardize our relationship, we’re like sisters, we’re family, but if you have to unfollow me to make your home a better place, do it."
She also explained that her estranged husband Scottie Pippen wasn't the Kardashians' biggest fans, either. "Scottie was not happy about my relationship with them. Scottie didn’t want me taking my kids over to their house. We had issues like that, too. And I was strong enough where I’m like, ‘I’m not going to let you dictate what I do.'"
Nov 10, 2020: The Kardashians Respond To Larsa's Podcast Appearance
The Kardashians responded in the way the Kardashians always respond, with a "close source" talking to every major news outlet. The family source told Entertainment Weekly, "The Kardashians aren’t paying much attention to Larsa’s recent interview. They know why they aren’t close to Larsa anymore and she’s entitled to her opinions. At the end of the day, Khloe and Tristan are in a great place as are Kim and Kanye. Larsa continues to say she doesn't care about no longer being close to the family, but people close to her know she does care and continues to talk about it."
Ooooof, those comments from the Kardashian source did not age well, huh, considering Kim filed for divorce from Kanye in January of 2021, and we just learned that Tristan cheated on Khloe again and got another woman pregnant.
Dec, 2021: Larsa Hinted To Her Fight With Kim On RHOM
Larsa hasn't directly addressed the falling out with Kim and family, but she did say in a confessional during the premiere, "People thought I wouldn’t make it without Scottie. People thought I couldn’t make it without some old friends."
Dec, 2021: Kim Threw Shade At Larsa, Then Said She Didn't Mean To
I'll let you guys be the judge of this one. On Kim's December 3, 2021 Instagram post, her caption said, "They can steal your recipe but the sauce won’t taste the same." This came just two days after the official RHOM trailer dropped, where in one of the clips, Larsa is accused of being a wannabe Kardashian. Kim responded to the speculation that this caption was shady by tweeting, "No shade throwing, I don't do subs. I want everyone to win. I just had a good caption LOL."
Ending 2021 On Good Terms?
To end 2021, Larsa spoke to Entertainment Tonight about where her and the family stand, she said, "Honestly, Kim and I are in a good place. I love them [the Kardashians], I love her. I wish nothing but great things for them. I feel like they wish nothing but great things for me."
Which might be true, but keep in mind, this season of RHOM if far from over, so who knows what other subtly shady comments Larsa will be throwing the Kardashians way (or her cast mates).
Ongoing: The Kim-Bot Of It All
Now. There's no denying that Larsa looks a lot like Kim. She hasn't always. Back in 2013 when she was on the original run of RHOM, here was her promo shot for the show:
There's a resemblance, sure, but the recent plastic surgery, as cast member Adriana pointed out, does make Larsa look even more like her ex-best friend. And in recent episodes, there's no denying that Larsa sounds like Kim, too, especially when she's recording messages for her Only Fans fans. It's that Calabasas, soft, high-pitched vocal fry that Kim popularized. I'm not saying that maybe Kim and Larsa had a falling out because Larsa started to morph into Kim, but crazier things have happened.
Could it be that maybe it wasn't necessarily Kim who took issue with her look-a-like, but maybe those in her inner circle worried about Kim's brand and image, which we know means everything to her. I mean, to have a friend start to transform into you and become the butt of all the jokes, isn't exactly great branding. In 2020 and a bit earlier, blogs were starting to pick up how much Larsa looked like Kim. Maybe the family powers at be didn't appreciate it?
What we need is for Kim to appear on an episode and clear all of this up. Khloe can come, too. She's just always a good time.
