Wait. We were rolling them to make them lowrise? I was rolling and hiking them up for that little cheek peak. 

Back in middle school and high school, we rolled the waistband of our shorts to make them more low-rise, and short. 

To my delight, that trend seems to be back, baby! The window in the adidas store in Soho, Manhattan had a mannequin with rolled shorts.
