I had a teacher like this once. An English teacher that really put her weight behind me, supported me, made me believe in my potential.

And I found out, years later, that she actually never even LIKED me. (Because I was an insufferable teenager).

Which, looking back on it, makes me respect her even more. 

I loved my first grade teacher and I think of her often. 

Yes! My poetry and narrative writing teacher in college, Julie, was one of the most important teachers of my life. She embraced everyone that walked through her classroom door, laughed at the absurdity of some of the works we studied, and didn't take any bullsh*t. She made writing poetry fun and exciting for everyone. She was (still is) the STAR of the english department. 

I talk to her often, she was that impactful. At my college graduation, she was the only person I wanted my parents to meet.

Ugh I didn’t! I had teachers I liked and respected but none I felt a personal connection to. I don’t think school was for me maybe. 

I had a professor in college who would start his classes by saying, "My name is Sean and I'm here to unfuck you up."

It was a media entrepreneurship class and it def changed how I looked at my career. He ran the class like a small biz incubator and always gave real feedback when you had an idea. 

While many professors in college give a false sense of hope to their students, this guy would always tell it how it is. With lots of cursing. 

I do believe that we all had a Mr. Feeny in our childhoods. Do you remember yours? And what did they do to change your life?
