It's actually very easy to see the nominated movies
One of my biggest pet peeves surrounding the Oscars is when people complain that they nominate movies no one has seen. I guess I could see that argument before streaming (even if it was a cop-out) but literally ev-er-y-thing is available on streaming. And even when movies don't go right to streaming anymore, they are available on demand within just a few weeks of their theatrical release.
So, if you hadn't heard of, say, CODA, before the nominations were released, wouldn't that spike your interest in seeking out a good movie that wasn't originally on your radar? Branch out!
