I feel this. Especially with movies that end with a happily ever after, and then the sequel picks up with them with someone else. Like, Speed or (this is going to sound stupid) Austin Powers. It changes the whole vibe of the first film knowing what’s to come. 

This is more in the so bad it’s good category but Grease 2. I begged my mom to buy the VHS from Sam’s Club because I loved Grease so much. It’s terrible but I must have watched that movie 100 times when I was younger and I knew all of the songs. 

To All The Boys I Loved Before- The first movie was bliss. I read all of the books and they were also a ton of fun, but the second movie was disappointing and a bit messy. I think there was a third? Obviously not memorable.  

Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason remains one of the worst movies I've ever seen. 

I’ve never been a fan of sequels (unless there’s source material that demands it) — some movies end so well that adding sequels actually messes up the satisfaction you feel after seeing a great film. 

For example, 1999’s The Mummy — this is a near-perfect action movie. But it’s actually made worse when you fold the sequels into the narrative, particularly with the whole Evelyn-is-reincarnated side plot. And then adding even more sequels of diminishing quality only further hurts the film’s legacy.
