I think so, actually, especially if it's a prominent enough book, or penned by a prominent enough person. 

I'm not part of the publishing industry, so I could be talking out of turn, but I would guess that a paperback is marketed to those who find the hardcover too expensive. So, you're basically trying to promote the book to an audience that likes the author, but not enough to spend $20 on their work. 

I have also seen other authors going out for tours promoting paperback releases because a lot of the tours for the initial hardcover releases were done remotely. 

My conspiracy theory is that Lala is doing all this press because the VPR spin-off rumors are true. I don't know *which* rumor is true, that she is getting her own spin-off or "Vanderpump Valley" is coming.

Anytime a reality tv personality is going on interviews, morning shows, podcasts, it's to promote SOMETHING, or get publicity for something. You all have informed me that she was "promoting" her book being released as a paperback copy. Do people REALLY go on press junkets to promote that? Is she that desperate to make the NYT Best Sellers list? Or do you think this is fishy like I do?
