I think it just shows the sheer chaos of the internet. No one knows what is true anymore, debating hard for sides that aren't even defined. It's toxic, awful for everyone's mental health, and in this situation, truly unknown.

It seems pretty clear from articles / interviews I've read that Kirsten was in on it, so to get upset doesn't make much sense.

It might be sexism, or it might just be the pre-conceived notions around each. Will Smith is nostalgic and has been beloved for decades; Amy Schumer has been hated by many the second she stepped into the spotlight. 

If it were Amy Poehler doing the bit, would people have been as outraged? I bet not, but, oddly, I think they still would be if it were Tina Fey. 

When it first happened, everyone thought Will Smith's slap was a bit. "There's no way that could have actually happened." But it did! He slapped him! 

When co-host Amy Schumer kicked Kirsten Dunst out of her seat for a bit, everyone was like "HOW DARE AMY DISRESPECT SOMEONE LIKE KIRSTEN." But Kirsten was in on it! For a JOKE! 

What does this say about us? I don't know! That's why I'm here to discuss!
