Irish exits are the best! My general rule of thumb is to say goodbye and thank you to the host and then peace out. 

You know, I respect it. Now, if I went to a party with you and you abandoned me there, I'd be pissed, but if you're not leaving anyone behind, I think it's fine. 

I love an Irish exit. My goal is to proudly Irish exit this life.

I think as long as you say goodbye to the host and thank them for the invite, then it’s fine to Irish exit everyone else. If it’s a crowded work or networking event, it’s ok to Irish exit. Agreed on the other comment that if someone comes with you, unless they say it’s ok to leave them behind and they are safe, you can’t Irish exit fully, but if they leave with you then you can give an Irish exit to everyone else (other than the host).

As I was exiting the party last night acting like I had an important call, I realized I have a serious issue with committing Irish exits. I would much rather leave the gathering without saying a single word to anyone and just later on sending a text “I had to run!” 

Does anyone else do this or is it just me?
