When I was younger I’d drink too much. It’s very lucky I didn’t hurt myself!

I wish I could say winning the lottery. But honestly, I think about how lucky I am that I have the pets that I do. I know that is lame and cheesy but I see so many cats who are so annoying and then I look at my little Barb and she is just so well behaved, never getting into things, never doing anything wrong. She just chills. And I think I am very lucky. 

I once won $20 on a scratch off from the grocery store. Went in to cash it, someone at the counter who was waiting was like, this line is too long, take these, and gave me $40 in winnings. Still think about that person to this day! 

The place: Myrtle Beach. The year: 1990. A young girl walks by a soda vending machine and just spontaneously chooses to press a button. CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK. A SPRITE APPEARS! A FREE SPRITE! 

I met the world’s best human when I was 16. This year, I turn 40, and he’s still the best human and partner. What could be luckier than that?

Got my first job because an assistant working where I was interning got fired for sleeping on his boss’ couch and for not knowing how to work a printer. 

Set me on the trajectory I’m on today. And tbh, I’m not sure I know how to use a printer either. 

Back in college, my friends and I went to a lake late at night, and considered jumping in. I chose not to, and headed back to the dorm, where, in the stairwell, I met a guy that was visiting a friend. We started talking, and then proceeded to date for five years. 

Spoiler alert, he was the worst, but I met someone through him years later who ended up introducing me to my current husband. So, had I decided to jump in the lake and go swimming, I might have never met my current SO. 

It's St. Patrick's Day, so hopefully we all get to experience a bit of that luck of the Irish today! 

I think I probably experience more dumb luck than actual good luck most of the time, but hey, I'll take it! So I was curious if anyone had any particularly good tales of luck to share today, whether it was being at the right place at the right time to meet your significant other or, like, winning the lottery. (If you are the latter....hello.)
