I don't think your experiences were pyramid schemes, unless you had to purchase the catalog items FIRST, or if you had to purchase the chocolate FIRST before selling it. Like, the school wasn't asking you to pay for the merch you were selling upfront, were they???

This is an excellent question. I had a friend who got sucked in to AmWay in MIDDLE SCHOOL. Kid was showing up with a bunch of off-brand energy drinks for us to buy from him -- and even at like 12 years old, we knew something was definitely off.

I don't know why, but I feel like that "read a book, get a pizza" thing had to have some sort of scheme involved. Sometimes, some things are too good to be true. 

I bet it’s earlier than you remember. I remember when we were tasked as little as kindergartners to take home those catalogs especially during Christmas time where you had to sell items that cost at max $15 at a 50%+ markup? Only to get a light up YO-YO while kids were giving their catalogues to their parents who took them to work and they got wireless freakin headphones. Or in second grade when we were given the worlds finest chocolate you sold for a dollar that probably cost them 25 cents to make!!!! No wonder some of you fell for Herbalife. We were indoctrinated !
