Sandra Oh Isn't Coming Back To 'Grey's Anatomy' & I Don't Blame Her

If you were hoping that the news of Grey's Anatomy getting renewed for Season 18 with Ellen Pompeo might mean that they're ready to give the show a final season it deserves, and that this would somehow involve the long-awaited return of Sandra Oh, I have some bad news. Sandra Oh has no plans to return to Grey's Anatomy. And if that's a big disappointment, ask yourself this question: what would Cristina Yang even do on Grey's Anatomy Season 13?

Fans hoped that, in light of the Season 18 pick-up, Oh might come back to Grey's Anatomy, no doubt to help wrap up Meredith Grey's journey. But, as she's been saying for years now, Oh confirmed on Tuesday, May 11, that she has no interest in revisiting the show. "I left that show, my God, seven years ago almost. So in my mind, it's gone," she said during an appearance on The LA Times' podcast Asian Enough. "But for a lot of people, it's still very much alive. And while I understand and I love it, I have moved on."

I hate to say it, but she's absolutely right. It's been a long time since Cristina Yang left Seattle Grace/Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, and Oh's career has flourished. She's the actual lead of Killing Eve, a show that won her a historic Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series. She just wrapped a successful first season of the Amazon Prime original Invincible, and has a new mini-series in the works called The Chair. She's busy!
