'Gossip Girl' Reboot's Serena & Blair Costumes Compared To The Original Looks

Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen may be gone, but they are definitely not forgotten. The former queens of the Upper East Side were present in Episode 5 of the Gossip Girl reboot where Serena and Blair costumes took center stage at a Halloween ball.

It might be August in the real world, but in Gossip Girl world, it's Halloween, and Julien is desperate to win the couple's costume contest at the annual Huluween party. Unfortunatey, her rivals at another school, Pippa and Bianca are equally ambitious, so they decide to up the ante, going as Serena va der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf. In the words of faux-Serena, "What bigger New York icons were there than Serena and Blair?"

Honestly, considering the teachers at Constance didn't even know what Gossip Girl was until a few months ago, I gotta wonder just how big Serena and Blair really were, but OK.

If you don't recognize the iconic GG looks, the one of the right is wearing Serena's wedding dress, a Jenny Humphrey original from Season 6 that featured a gold overlay that reminds me of ripped tinfoil. (Sorry S, your dress was not cute.)

And he one on the left is wearing a copy of Blair's cotillion gown, a Waldorf design from Season 1 that definitely captured Blair's squeaky clean image at the time. (Funnily enough, Serena was also wearing a gold dress at the cotillion, so, looks like faux-Serena wanted to steal the spotlight in a wedding gown.)

Who wore it best? Julien and Zoya, obviously, when they decided to crash this couple's costume as their Dan Humphrey and Chuck Bass. Sorry, girls, better luck next time.
