But i've also been messing around with bucatini lately, and let me tell you, that hollow shape really adds something to a regular ol' pasta dinner. 

OMG YES I finally found someone whose favorite is also the shell! A medium shell in any dish is so so good, I agree with all your reasoning. I also use them in my mac n cheese sometimes for the same reason. Great choice, my friend.

Shells are up there bc they hold more sauce. I'm a fan of a fat rigatoni for more of the same reasons. Especially if you've got some STUFF in that sauce (a crumbled sausage, a spinach, etc.) that can get up in the 'toni. 

Well, now, this all depends on what you put on it! But if I had to choose...

This, of course, doesn't include ravioli and tortellini, and the stuffed pastas, because that's really not a fair fight. 

I'm having pasta tonight for dinner, so a very timely post JTucks! I'm a huge fan of cavatappi. It's a fun shape and fun to say! But also gotta respect ziti, orecchiette, and the most classic -- stars.

1. Rotini (cooks fast holds sauce well easy to get with a fork)

3. Farfalle (looks really pretty is flat enough to do a risotto like dish with)

Shells? Are you a sicko? Shells are gross. Yes, they can hold sauce in their crevices, but the sauce to pasta ratio is so off.

I like a spaghetti. Classic. Simple. Elegant.

I was originally a linguini boi, but recently I've been really enjoying shells. Their round shapes really scoop up the sauce better and I love when a bit of fresh basil or onion chunk gets caught inside. Such a gorgeous treat when I take a bite.
