We stopped at the side of the road in Malibu and decided to hike, casually dressed with sandals (no hiking boots). Not a densely forested area, and stepped right over a family of rattlers. Didn’t realize this until we passed them, and had to figure out how to return without making the same mistake. Never thought this would happen in Malibu!

And sometimes you can't even see them when they're MASSIVE!

I don't have a fear of snakes, but, boy, are they sneaky. Every time I see one while hiking, I wonder how we haven't all been killed by them. They're everywhere, you can't see them coming, and they are SO dangerous. 

The world is a truly bonkers place but every so often there's still a headline that catches my attention and makes me go, "I beg your pardon?"

Case in point, the news that Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Saw, Stranger Things, Twister, Liar Liar) was bit by a freakin' rattlesnake while doing work in his yard in Malibu!

It seems like he's recovering just fine (phew!) and now he has one hell of a story to tell at dinner parties but OH MY GOD. How wild!
