Did Madison LeCroy Cause Jennifer Lopez and A-Rod's Break-Up? — UPDATE

UPDATE: On Saturday, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez released a statement that implied they are still together, insisting, "we are working through some things." A source added to the sentiment to People, saying, "They never officially broke up and talked about it but are still together. They hit a rough patch. But were not broken up." The source also denied that Madison LeCroy was involved in that "rough patch." How the Southern Charm cast will respond? Well, we'll have to wait for Winter House for that.

EARLIER: Madison LeCroy has officially broken into (or, rather, up) the A-list. Though the news of Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez's reported split comes on Take Out The Trash Day without any direct confirmation of cause, anyone paying any bit of attention to the Bravo universe the last few months could see the connection: the Southern Charm star might have contributed this giant celebrity breakup.

Sure, Page Six reports LeCroy was indeed the catalyst for the break-up, but Southern Charm fans might have already gotten the scoop back in January — during the reunion for the series, Craig Conover alleged that LeCroy traveled to Miami to hook up with a high-profile celebrity. Though Bravo's censors bleeped the identity of the individual Craig named, Bravo sleuths like Deux Mois and BravoandCocktails assumed the "married ex-baseball player" named was Alex Rodriguez, someone who actively followed and liked Madison's posts on social media.

(But Lopez and Rodriguez weren't married, you say? Don't count on Southern Charm's cast to get all the details right. The bourbon is a-flowin'.)

Though Rodriguez has never addressed the rumors, LeCroy has said that she's only FaceTimed with the former baseball player, and that he "never physically cheated on his fiancée with me." That statement leaves an emotional relationship up to interpretation, and co-star Shep Rose also claimed LeCroy signed an NDA about the content of their DMs. But no matter the exact nature of Rodriguez's and LeCroy's friendship, sources say the athlete's link to a Bravo star was enough to "embarrass" the very A-list Lopez. Add a scandal that threatens Lopez's brand to a list of problems that led the couple to therapy at the beginning of the pandemic, and it seems it was time for Jenny from the Block to kick A-Rod to the curb.

(Though, earlier this year, some sources claimed Lopez wasn't "bothered and doesn't care" about the LeCroy connection, others told OK that "friends are wondering if they'll ever make it down the aisle." Welp.)

Don't make like Conover and Austen Kroll and blame LeCroy for everything, though. While LeCroy might have found herself in the middle of the gossip headlines, the Southern Charm alpha has too often fielded undeserved hate from the actions of those around her — Rodriguez included. And though her Southern Charm co-stars have yet to weigh in on the news story, it's easy to assume it will bleed into filming for Season 8.

As for Lopez, well, someone else has suddenly become available in 2021. Hope she likes Dunkin'.
