- The Bachelor -Dale Moss & Clare Crawley's Engagement Is Giving Me Whiplash
We will never be free from the 2020 Bachelorette season. Never. This week, Clare Crawley seemed to confirm that her engagement with Dale Moss is back on when she posted an Instagram Story prominently featuring her engagement ring. But just because Clare is wearing her ring again doesn't necessarily mean wedding bells are coming. Honestly, I'll be surprise if this on-again portion of their relationship lasts through the summer.
Clare showed off her massive Neil Lane diamond in a video of her eating a morning snack of what looks like a box of apple juice and pretzels this week. And the message was clear: this was a video made for no other reason than to show off the ring. And at 4.5 carats, that's really not hard to do. But are Clare and Dale really re-engaged?
Clare and Dale have been on and off since January, when their whirlwind Bachelorette engagement was first called off. They went from off — with Clare claiming Dale blindsided her by announcing their split — to slowly being spotted out together early in 2021. In March, the two reportedly spent a romantic weekend together celebrating Clare's 40th birthday. At the time, a source told E! News, "They are hanging out and having fun for now. They agreed it's less pressure on both of them if they don't label their relationship."
In early, Dale and Clare finally seemed to confirm that they were back together on Instagram, though they've been keeping their couple posts to their Stories, and have continued to refuse to label their relationship. "We're just living life and we're doing it and being present with one another. It's been great to go about it that way," Dale said during an appearance on the Hollywood Raw following their new Instagram official status, per Us Weekly. He continued, teasing that their relationship status would be known "in due time."
Well, it's two weeks later, and it seems the duo has already gone from "spending time together" to "engaged." If that sounds fast, it's worth remembering that two weeks is basically as long as they were together on The Bachelorette before he got down on one knee. So, this is pretty standard for Clare and Dale's relationship.
What I'm more curious about at this point is how Clare still has the ring. It's well known in Bachelor Nation that contestants only get to keep the ring if they stay together — at least for the first two years. If they break up after two years of engagement, then the ring is theirs. Chris Harrison himself has said that if a couple breaks up after a few months, "it goes back." So, um, how did Clare and Dale get away with not turning in the ring? Was it a COVID perk? Or maybe the Bach producers were too busy dealing with Matt James' mess of a season to care?
