How 'Bridgerton' Season 2 Could Include Daphne & Simon, According To The Stars

Confession: I think I might love Bridgerton just as much as Daphne loves Simon. And just as Daphne can't wait for her future with the Duke, I cannot wait for my future with Bridgerton. The Netflix Christmas hit has yet to be officially renewed for another season, but the Bridgerton stars know what they want for Daphne and Simon in Season 2. And, all I can say is, "Please, give it to me NOW."

Warning: spoilers for Bridgerton Season 1 ahead. As fans of the Bridgerton book series know, each book focuses on the love story of a different Bridgerton sibling. Book 1 was, essentially, translated into Season 1 of the show, and so it's expected that the pattern will continue moving forward. But where does that leave our beloved Duke and Duchess? I, personally, shudder at the thought of a season of Bridgerton without Simon seducing Daphne in the middle of a promenade. (Especially if they follow the order of the books, and Anthony's love life becomes the main plot of Season 2. I still haven't forgiven him for scarring off every single eligible suitor for Daphne in Episode 1.)

Despite the couple's happy ending in Season 1, actor Phoebe Dynevor is hopeful that that Bridgerton Season 2 will show new sides to their married life. "I think you start to see what Daphne's like at the end of the season as a married woman and what her interests are and her sort of come into her own," she told Entertainment Tonight. "That'll be interesting to see how she evolves from that space." Meanwhile, Regé-Jean Page, who plays Simon, said that he hoped to see them struggle a bit in their marriage. "Love is a continuous process. It needs tending, it needs work... it gets tested," he told ET. "I think that could be very exciting, seeing how you can strain that [relationship] and still come out with something even stronger."

Even if Daphne doesn't experience much drama in her own romantic life, she might find ways into Season 2 through Anthony's courtship. "Anthony [was] so involved in Daphne's matchmaking that I think she'll probably have some sort of say in his," Dynevor teased in an interview with TheWrap. "So I'd be intrigued to see how they'd take that storyline and how much Daphne would be involved in his."

I, for one, hope that Daphne and Simon continue to play a big role in Season 2, especially if the second season picks up after the time-jump seen at the end of Season 1. I want to see Simon struggling with fatherhood and Daphne learning how to juggle motherhood and being a wife in society. And if they happen to have sex in yet another room of their lavish estate, then I'll watch that too. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
