When do you give up on a book?

There are only so many minutes in the day I can dedicate to reading, so, for me, I’ve gotta get hooked into a book fast.

Typically, if I’m not intrigued by the third chapter, I’ll give up, but that also makes me feel impatient. There’s value in a slow burn, and I sometimes feel like I don’t allow the time to appreciate something fully.

When do you give up on a book, and when SHOULD we give up on a book?
