I feel like it's so rare to see a GOOD OOO message that isn't devoid of all personality. You can tell people where you're going, when you'll be back (or maybe you wont!) and maybe make up a fun activity. Like, 'I'm out this week swimming with sharks! Speak to you next week...if I  make it out alive!"

I agree it's fun to show a little personality! Yeah, maybe keep the Subject Line clear, and then have a little fun in the body of the email. Like, if you're going to a wedding in Mexico, you could say, "I'm at a wedding in Mexico! Back Monday. Until then, you can reach xyz at xyz.com"

I like hearing what people are doing, and if you work in sales, it's a great convo starter

This speaks to my soul. I spend way too long when it comes to OOO messages. I get so stressed about setting appropriate boundaries but also reminding people we are human and it's good to take care of ourselves! I recently started explicitly stating when I'm on vacation instead of tiptoeing around it. And I think it's fun to include a clue into what you are doing like biking the Flint Hills of Kansas, laying in the sun in Mexico. Keep the dates but add some fun!

What is the most appealing OOO message you've ever received? I am going OOO for a weekend trip in a few days and it got me thinking of how I want to approach my bounce back email. 

- Personality! I think it's nice to show I'm not a bot! I'm fun! 

- Nothing weird though. Once I saw someone say they were "vibin in Lala" (aka on vacation in Los Angeles) and I almost threw my computer across the room. 

- Should the subject be straight forward? Keep the fun stuff to the body of the email? 

- I think short and sweet is best, don't you?
