I worked at a local dance floor. It was super chill, so I got to do my homework on the job, but I also regularly had kids farting in my face when I fit them for ballet shoes. 

My first job was an internship at Oxygen Network in the engineering department. I actually loved it for the most part. Some of the work was a little tedious (logging tapes in and out of the library) but I also got to help out a little bit on the Isaac Mizrahi show which taped in the same building, and I remember getting to watch Tori Amos perform on stage. I was in high school at the time but the women I worked with were great, I'm still friends with two of them to this day!

I worked in our town’s tax collector’s office. I am terrible at math, so this was challenging, and not at all fun.  My next job was much more fun - I worked at a department store music area, playing holiday music on an electric piano. Very interesting!

I worked at the last solo Baskin Robbins franchise in Florida. I loved all the free ice cream and tips — I hated changing the tubs of ice cream!

Besides babysitting (which I loved) my first job was at The Gap! I loved it. I felt so adult at 16. And I was kinda more adult than most employees, so much so that they let me run Gap Kids by myself and count all the money at the end of the day. The drama was fun and the location was great... I can vividly remember getting a slurpee after work and sitting by the fountain outside (it was an outside mall) and just thinking, "ah, working gal! life is good at $6.50 an hour!" And it really was.
