Well, I do think it's interesting because I don't think we knew that New Girl was the next Friends until it went on Netflix. So, that is to say, I think there's some time that needs to pass before we acknowledge the significance of a show for a generation. 

But I feel like, oddly, The Office is Gen Z's Friends, lol. 

I’m not sure there is one, mostly because sitcoms, as a genre, are not really as common as they once were. Existing IP or water-cooler shows are far more lucrative — an original sitcom idea isn’t going to make as big an impact for them. But I miss them! I wish we had a new New Girl! We all need to laugh more!

I feel like every generation has like a show that is an ensemble show about friends starting off young and growing older. For the older generation it was like Cheers. For Gen X it was Friends. For millennials it’s New Girl. But as shows are changing and people are depending on streaming, streaming doesn’t have a lot of luck when it comes to comedies and prime time tv isn’t what it once was. What do you think is the next Friends? Will Gen Z have a Friends? Maybe it’s just not on yet
